Why should I choose concrete?
Concrete is everything that granite, marble and soapstone want to be. Concrete has endless possibilities in design, function and style. Concrete is completely custom and one of kind. Concrete is an extraordinary material that is as practical, expressive, and aesthetic as you. It is a piece of art made functional.

Concrete can be ground, polished or stained. You can design your countertop to incorporate special features such as drain boards, cutting board slides, integral sinks, and embedded personal, meaningful objects. These features not only add functionality, they bring your personality and taste into your home. No other solid surface material can do that.

How does concrete compare to granite in terms of both cost (per square foot) and texture?
If you have a concrete kitchen or bathroom counter made for you, the cost will be based on the complexity of the form, the mold-making process, and the desired finish. Cost comparisons between materials should be done on a project-by-project basis with all factors weighed in.

Will the countertop have seams?
If the countertop length is over 7' 6” long, the countertop will have a seam. However, due to our casting process, we are able to design the seam into the piece to be a feature as opposed to something to hide. We can also move the seam to the least conspicuous spot if visual continuity is important. Seam tolerances are 1/8" and are sealed with a clear silicone sealant.

Does the color ever vary?
Yes, since our product is handmade, color and texture may vary. This is part of the uniqueness of concrete. Samples are produced in order to keep variations to a minimum.

How much will the countertop weigh?
The weight of a concrete countertop has a lot of bearing on how it is built and how it will be installed. A standard 2” countertop has an approximate weight of 24.5 pounds per square foot. In comparison, granite is approximately 18 pounds per square foot. Most cabinets can easily support this weight. Supports can be added in order to transfer the additional load directly to the floor.

Will these countertops crack?
In concrete, two types of cracking can occur: hairline and structural. We guarantee our products against structural cracks. Our countertops are reinforced with a state of the art reinforcement technology that eliminates structural cracking.

Hairline cracking, on the other hand, can, occur over time. As with our personal imperfections and wrinkles, the natural wear of concrete enhances the timeless beauty of the material.

Are Concrete Counters Heat Resistant?
Concrete is very heat resistant but it is not recommended to place hot pots and pans directly on the concrete. It could affect the sealant. Using trivets of stainless steel, brass or copper are the best way to avoid damage. Another one of concrete’s versatile features is that you can embed a trivet(s) directly into the countertop, providing an easy access place for setting hot pans without the worry of doing any damage. Creating a unique and functional design option.

How long does the process take?
Once we have created the templates, the lead-time on a custom countertop is 3-6 weeks depending on design, finish, and treatments.
